Solar Observing at Rodington

Light pollution posed ...

no problem for the early evening SAS members who were treated to spectacular views of the solar disk. Society member Pete Williamson FRAS kindly set up his specialist equipment and provided a commentary of the specific phenomena that could be seen. As the Sun hid behind clouds and the temperature dropped Pete continued sharing his passion indoors with a short presentation on what amateurs could expect to see and what equipment is available. He provided an insight into the science behind some of the phenomena which clearly inspired many of the audience. Following refreshments Pete continued to answer questions while the night owls ventured outside to view the clearing skies.
