Nipstone Rock Success

Sharing the same sky ...

as the official dark sky site across the valley over fifty members of the SWT and SAS were rewarded with an excellent evening. Shropshire Wildlife Trust arranged the tasty BBQ while SAS members provided the telescopes. Solar observing took centre stage before the Sun set and the BBQ took over provided the warmth. With hot dog in hand individuals were treated to views of Saturn as it hovered just above the horizon. The breeze ensured what cloud there was rapidly moved across the sky providing a window to a range of spectacular sights. Numerous Perseid meteors were spotted before the dark velvet sky was hidden by dense cloud. Thank you to the SWT for hosting the event. Next Saturday at Rodington is another chance to catch a Perseid, so bring your deckchair.
